![]() Later, on mentioning this we were informed that a lot of Smart rooms were packed together and on the top floor which exacerbates the heat problem. The underpowered fan provided did not alleviate the problem. Room for improvement: The Smart room was too hot. It was very clean and had a huge walk in shower and bathroom though the room itself was a bit small. We stayed in a Smart room located up a flight of stairs in what seems like a new part of the building. There is a nice pub about a five minute walk away from the hotel. The public spaces and the terrace and gardens are lovely. The famous River Test is close by for perfect fishing and quaint villages to explore. Visit Jane Austin country, Highclere Castle (home of Downton Abbey), Bombay Sapphire Distillery or a local Vineyard such as Hattingley Valley. Minutes away from the historic city of Winchester and only a short drive from Salisbury, Stonehenge and the New Forest.
